The Shepherds and the Wise Man

We have considered the character of Joseph and Mary, and this week we look closely at the character of the shepherd and the wise men. These two groups are about as far apart as is possible for two groups. One is at the bottom of the social ladder, and the other is at the top. One group is Jewish, and the other is not. One is right next door, and the other travels many miles. One group is generally poor, and the other is rich. What a contrast, and yet both show up to recognize this new King who has arrived.
